Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever

Chapter 297: Tina Huxley’s Sudden Awakening

Chapter 297: Tina Huxley’s Sudden Awakening

Matthew smiled and shook his head: "I was just daydreaming. If I caused any disturbance to you, madam, I apologize."

Since he said that, Summer Lowell felt it inappropriate to press further and let him go easily.

Although Maxim Sinclair outwardly said not to bother with Justin Huxley and not to tell Summer the truth.

But after contemplating overnight, he still had Tina Huxley brought to one of his private clubs the next day.

This was their first meeting since Omni Group’s bankruptcy.

Looking at Maxim Sinclair, who she once loved deeply but who later made her fall from grace, Tina found she no longer felt the old infatuation and her demeanor became very cold.

"What do you want from me? Now that the Huxley Family is bankrupt, I don’t think there’s anything beneficial left in me for you to pry." Tina spun the coffee cup in her hands, playing with it for a long time without lifting it to her lips.

Maxim saw through her thoughts and sneered: "Don’t worry, I wouldn’t do something as sordid as drugging you. Do you think everyone is like you?"

Tina couldn’t help but recall what she’d done to Maxim before, feeling a sense of shame on her face.

"So, you called me here today just to mock me?"

"Of course not," Maxim took a sip of his coffee, "you were the one who started with harsh words."

"You’ve just caused my family to go bankrupt. I’m already being generous by not splashing this cup of coffee on your face." Hatred flashed in Tina’s eyes.

Maxim wasn’t concerned with her animosity: "The person you should hate isn’t me. You know in your heart who’s responsible for the Huxley Family’s mess."

"So why did you call me here? What do you want to say?"

Having lost patience, Tina looked at Maxim intolerantly, "Speak quickly, we’re all busy people."

Maxim nodded slightly and gestured behind him. Shortly afterward, a document was placed in her hands.

He pushed the document he had onto the table towards Tina: "Take a look at this document. It should be able to help you."

Tina opened the document half-believingly, and when she saw its contents, her face changed dramatically: "Evidence of Justin Huxley’s embezzlement? How do you have this?"

"His actions weren’t discreet. With careful checking and some money, it can easily be obtained. Rest assured, the authenticity of these documents is high. They’ll be absolutely useful for you."

Tina gripped the document folder: "I don’t believe you’d be so kind to me. Tell me, what are your conditions for giving me this file?"

"I certainly wouldn’t give you this evidence for free," Maxim smirked as he tapped the document, "I have only one simple condition, and that is for you to use this document against Justin Huxley. Don’t you hate him? I’m giving you a great opportunity to get revenge."

Tina couldn’t believe it was so easy: "Is it really that simple?"

"It’s just that simple, but the issue is... do you dare to act against him?" Maxim intentionally provoked her.

Tina didn’t fall for this provocation. She stared at Maxim for a while, suddenly realizing: "You must be concerned Justin Huxley is pestering Summer Lowell again, and you want to use me to keep Justin occupied?"

Unexpectedly, after Omni Group’s downfall, Tina seemed to have gotten smarter.

Maxim looked at her and after a moment, burst into laughter: "People do indeed grow. With your intelligence, you wouldn’t have seen this before."

His words had more praise than provocation.

Having already succumbed to reality, Tina laughed indifferently: "Can’t remain dumb forever."

"But if you take the evidence I gave you and file a report against Justin Huxley, you should be able to get a share of the estate, which isn’t bad news for you, right? Nobody complains about having too much money."

At a first listen, this sounds quite enticing.

But when dealing with Maxim Sinclair, the cost is surely high.

Even someone as cunning as Justin fell in his hands, not to mention herself.

Tina knew well her own limits.

She looked up at the guards at the door and then at Maxim across from her, expressionless and unreadable, and didn’t express whether she agreed or declined: "Give me a day to think about it; this is no small matter."

"Fine, get back to me in a day."

Fearing he’d regret it, Tina hurriedly got up and left the room without looking back.

Assistant Collins came in from outside and quietly reminded: "Tina Huxley seems unwilling to cooperate with you. If she leaves now and later switches sides to work with Justin Huxley, it’ll be very unfavorable for us."

"She won’t go and collaborate with Justin Huxley. He’s the one who put her in this state, there’s no way she’d go back to work with him against me."

Maxim didn’t think Assistant Collins’s concern would come true, shaking his head with a smile as he handed him the document, "Keep this document safe and wait for Tina to call. If she has figured things out and is willing to do as I said, then give her this file."

Assistant Collins nodded in agreement but privately thought Tina probably wouldn’t call.

Just as he expected, Tina said she’d go back to think about it for a day, but three whole days passed without any call from her.

Instead, a message came from Matthew saying Tina had gone to Varden Villa to meet Summer Lowell.

The two were talking about something unknown in the garden; the butler had gone over several times, using the excuse of delivering fruit to observe Tina, fearing she might harm Summer.

But in fact, Tina and Summer seemed to be chatting happily in the garden, with nothing unusual seen. Though everything seemed fine, the butler still felt uneasy and made a call to Maxim.

Maxim had a very important online meeting scheduled immediately and couldn’t get back to the villa.

Not wanting Summer to think he was interfering in her daily life, he instructed Matthew to send a female bodyguard disguised as a maid to keep a close watch on Tina’s movements from nearby.

"Are you surprised I came to see you?" Tina smiled and handed Summer the prepared gift.

"Not really."

Summer appeared very calm, but inside, she was indeed surprised.

After all, a week ago, they were at each other’s throats.

Especially earlier, when Tina repeatedly tried to eliminate her.

She never imagined that one day Tina would come visiting.

And talk peacefully.
