Immortal In A Death Game

Chapter 258: Are You Not Entertained?

Chapter 258: Are You Not Entertained?

"I haven’t even killed anything!"

"Sir, please move. There are still people wanting to get into the Tower."

"Come on, man!"

"Sir, move."

"This some bullshit, man. I swear. I’m not leaving!"

"Sir. How about this, we will put you in the very first spot after this young gentleman?"

"Do I need to pay again?"

"Yes. But we will give you a seventy percent discount. How about that?"

"What?! This some bullshit!"

Adam lightly winced, watching as the man before him was dragged away by the Tower’s security.

"W-wait! I’ll pay! I will pay!"

He couldn’t blame the man, however, as he truly was only there for seconds—unlucky.

"Sir, do you have your ticket?"

Adam stepped forward, presenting his ticket to the attendants. The attendant who checked his ticket glanced at his face.

"Can you put down your hood for a second?" she ordered.

Adam hesitated for a moment, then carefully pulled his hood down. Just enough that only the attendant in front of him could see his face.

The attendant was taken aback by how long and voluminous Adam’s hair was—she didn’t even realize they existed back there due to it being hidden by the mantle. She seemed extremely professional, however, as after studying his face for a moment, she ripped his ticket and gave it back to him.

"You can go. For confirmation, do we need to explain the rules and terms? Is this your first time here?" she asked.

"There’s no need," Adam answered as quickly as he pulled his hood back up and stepped away. It was his first time here—but since his goal wasn’t to clear the Leak and join the leaderboards, it shouldn’t be a problem at all.

He was just going to explore the Tower. Kill some monsters here and there... and then try to find out how Persistent Leaks were... persistent. And how not to make them be.

He stared up at the Leak, his green eyes reflecting the violent dance of its ring. Even with this behemoth of a portal in front of him, Adam didn’t even blink when he stepped through it—his eyes didn’t even twitch at all as the scenery in front of him completely changed.

"Oh..." he whispered, studying the area around him. "...It’s an Interior Leak."

He pulled down his hood, spinning around as he walked.

"This looks weird."

The floor was incredibly smooth, as if it were made from marble. He lifted his foot, then casually slammed it on the ground, causing the walls, the towering pillars, and the ceiling above to quake.

Adam clasped his ears shut, wincing from how loud the echo of his stomp was.

"Whew..." he breathed out, shaking his head as he looked ahead, staring at the steps leading to the upper floor.

Adam was about to make his way to the next floor, but several shadows started emerging from behind the many pillars—green little men, even smaller than him.

Well, they weren’t really men. Their faces were completely flat, and their foreheads were only an inch tall and almost curved back from the brows.

Look, Adam. Your cousins. Shut up. You should look like that with how small your brain is.

Aside from the large, black club they were holding, the monsters were completely without any equipment... completely naked.

"Hello," Adam greeted, tilting his head and watching the five monsters carefully approach him. He waited for any one of them to answer—but the only answer he got was one of them screeching and lunging at him.

He sighed at this, casually stepping to the side. Well, not truly casual, it only looked like it with how nonchalant he was as he avoided the monster, and it grazed by him.

Before it could completely pass him by, Adam clapped... squishing the monster’s head like it was cake. He then grabbed the monster’s black club and threw it at the closest surviving monster—a skirt of cloud formed around the club, and it went right through the monster’s chest without any resistance at all, continuing to fly until it reached the very end of the hall.

The other remaining monsters didn’t seem to care at all that Adam’s simple throw created a large hole through one of them, however, as they continued to lunge at him without any fear or hesitation.

"Monsters, then. I’m sorry," Adam whispered to himself, sighing as he walked forward even as the goblins were rushing at him. He met with the first one, and Adam didn’t even dodge or launch an attack of his own—he just let the array of clubs slam on him.

And as soon as the first club smacked on his face... the weapon bounced along with its wielder. The same thing happened to the rest of the monsters, but they didn’t give up. They all got to their feet and lunged forward.

This time, however, Adam put up a boxing stance and started jabbing at them as they came, and as soon as his fists reached their bodies, they shattered—no, exploded into pieces.

Now you’re just bullying these poor little monsters. They’re in the way.

Adam swayed his body as he moved forward, dodging the blood, guts, and bones misting everywhere. And then, he continued heading to the stairs, not even glancing back.

It wasn’t until he was near the stairs that he looked back... only to see all the mangled parts and corpses being absorbed by the floor—and not even a second later, new green little monsters emerged from the pillars.

"This one, too. Huh..."

One of the other unique characteristics of Persistent Leaks was that it wasn’t only the Leak that was persistent—the monsters inside spawn back, too. This was the reason why the Heroes don’t really earn anything from this Las Vegas attraction; people only pay so that they can brag to their friends about being on the leaderboard.

For some Heroes, however, this was the best place to train their abilities and hone their senses. After all, infinitely spawning monsters that get gradually stronger the higher you climb up?

But of course, as humans, everything would eventually be turned into entertainment—that still doesn’t change the fact that the Tower seemed like it was tailored and made to train them.

Because of this, researchers hypothesized that the world in these Leaks was created by the Administrators themselves.

But then... why? Was this part of the declaration they made thirty years ago that they are accelerating humanity’s growth? But... why would they do that? Were they... favoring humans? No. It doesn’t matter why.

Adam sighed, shrugging as he ignored his thoughts along with the monsters being spawned from the pillars. He made his way up—and even more monsters awaited him there.

This time... well, the monsters were still goblins, but no longer little—they were all taller than Adam, and their arms were the same size as the goblins on the first floor.

"Skr—"

Adam didn’t wait for them to attack. As soon as they turned their heads, he rushed at them. He didn’t even raise his hands to attack and just slammed his entire body through the monsters, bulldozing them.

And bulldozing was the perfect term, as the monsters just disintegrated as soon as Adam flew by.

Poor monsters. Stop smurfing, Adam. Stop using that word. What? It’s true—stop forgetting how strong you are now, Adam. Always remember. I do. Then what are you doing here? Climb. Stop wasting your time. You forget... time is the only thing I have a surplus of.

Adam spun, creating a blast of wind that blasted away all the blood and flesh stuck on him. And without waiting for the monsters to respawn again, he ran to the next floor.

The next monsters were now four-armed goblins... which Adam just once again ran through. He also did the same thing on the floor after, and then after that.

And then after.

None of the monsters could even withstand him as he climbed, and climbed, and climbed. The only time he stopped moving was when he noticed there were no longer any stairs to the next floor—no.

There were also no more walls, replaced by the edge of the black dome, preventing Hunters from completely exploring the strange world.

"This is the top floor, huh?" he whispered to himself, pulling out a piece of bone that was lightly pierced through his shoulder. He looked forward, and there was a single figure sitting on a throne right at the very center of the terrace.

[Goblin Magus, Lv. 3 | HP: 100%]

"Sholowo—Skh?!"

The monster wasn’t even able to let out whatever word it was trying to say as a bone suddenly pierced through its chest, pinning it to its throne.

[Goblin Magus, Lv. 3 | HP: 69%]

"Sh—"

It was about to say something else, but Adam suddenly appeared right in front of it and clamped its mouth shut. He also casually snatched the staff it was holding, throwing it close to the edge.

Adam watched as the staff slid across the floor, half of it disappearing through the wall of void before one side lifted up, and it fell.

"So, it really is a tower." Adam shrugged, slamming the monster’s head onto the throne.

[Goblin Magus, Lv. 3 | HP: 42%]

"I’m sorry, but I need you to stay here for a minute, okay?" Adam pointed at the Boss monster before turning his back to it without any thought.

"Now then..." Adam raised his voice, stretching his arms to the side as he stared into the wall of void, almost as if looking at someone.

"...Is there anyone watching on the other side? Mikhail? Laphael? Portiael? Was this Leak created by your people?!"
