Chapter 1161: Remember Not to Miss Me Too Much
Carefully putting the baby back into the crib, she then found some pajamas to change into, climbed into bed, and went to sleep.
Beichen Li was "sent" back, and all the money he had taken was recovered as well. Over the years he’d swallowed quite a lot; now that things were going through legal procedure and he was being prosecuted, his life was basically ruined.
Very soon, Ye Xinluo reached the last day of her month of postpartum confinement. Beichen Rui hosted a full-month banquet at home, and the business partners who had dealings with the Beichen Family were all invited.
Mo Han and Xu Kun stood in front of the window, each holding a glass of wine, and couldn’t help sighing. "In the blink of an eye, Rui already has two kids. Time really does fly."
Xu Kun glanced at him. "You’re the same. You’ll be a dad soon too. Have you talked it over with Rui yet? When are you starting your leave?"
"In the next couple of days. I’m so worried I don’t even know what to do. That little rascal at my place is way too noisy—he’s exhausting!"
Xu Kun gave a faint smile. "Just get through it and you’ll be fine."
"Yeah... oh right, when are you planning to head out? We won’t see each other for a whole year. You’ll be there all by yourself—remember, don’t miss me too much!"
Xu Kun shot him a glare. "Why would I miss you, so I can find you to fight?"
The two of them looked at each other and laughed. They were used to interacting like this, and now that they were suddenly going to be apart for a while, it really did feel a bit strange.
Things at the company had more or less all been handed over, the transfer order had come down, and he’d booked a flight for next Monday. Which meant there were less than five days left.
Not far away, Xia Yuan stood there, her line of sight just happened to fall in Xu Kun’s direction. Her family had been working with the Beichen Family all these years, and she’d pestered her father for a long time before he agreed to bring her along.
She waited until Mo Han was called away, hesitated for a moment in her heart, then lifted her feet and walked toward the man.
Noticing someone approach, Xu Kun turned his head to look. When he saw who it was, he didn’t say anything, just stood there.
"Do you have to be like this? We’re at least friends, right? You see me and you can’t even say hello?"
After hearing her, Xu Kun finally turned to look at her. "What are you doing here?"
"Tsk, no sincerity at all..." She leaned against the wall, her fingertips swirling the wine in her glass. After a while she spoke. "I came with my dad. It’s boring staying at home. What were you guys talking about just now? You looked pretty happy."
"Nothing much."
Xia Yuan pressed her lips together. "Um... do you have time these couple of days? Let me treat you to a meal!"
"What for?"
"Oh come on, can you not be so cold? It’s just a meal between friends. Just say whether you’ll go or not!"
"No need." Xu Kun said flatly.
"Why?" Xia Yuan didn’t get it. He’d been chatting away happily with Mo Han just now, but the second she came over he acted like she owed him two hundred and fifty-eight grand. Was she really that scary?
"No reason."
He was flying to the UK in a few days. Any extra entanglements were better avoided.
But Xia Yuan had no idea what he was thinking. She just kept assuming he didn’t see her as a friend, and couldn’t help feeling a little disappointed.
"Forget it, if you won’t go, you won’t go. Just pretend I never said anything."
Xu Kun looked at her. The girl’s pretty features, her palm-sized face with delicate makeup—while he was zoning out, Xia Yuan suddenly leaned closer, playfully blinked her eyes, and asked, "Do I look good?"
The sudden nearness made the tips of his ears flush faintly pink. He coughed lightly twice, and when he saw Mo Han over there talking with someone, he quickly grabbed that as a pretext to slip away.
