She had absolutely no desire to go to Nangong Chen’s home. Even if he might not mean any harm, she still felt it was better to be cautious.

Watching their figures gradually disappear into the distance, Nangong Chen’s gaze flickered. He turned around and went back into the courtyard. As soon as he stepped in, he immediately said to the person beside him, "Help me look into it and find out where they’re living."

Since Jiang Xue wasn’t willing to step into his house, then he would just go pay a visit to hers.

Thinking of this, the corners of Nangong Chen’s lips lifted slightly. It wasn’t as if he couldn’t see Jiang Xue’s distance and wariness toward him, but so what?

After leaving the scenic area, the two of them found a place to eat. Little Reunion remembered the promise Mu Qiancheng had made to him that morning and started feeling unhappy. When the server brought the dishes, he shouted loudly, "Bao, baozi."

His outburst stunned the server. Fortunately, Jiang Xue understood what Little Reunion meant and said to the server, "Could you please bring us a plate of steamed buns? My kid likes them."

Hearing Jiang Xue’s words, the server let out a breath of relief. So the little guy had wanted steamed buns—she’d thought he was asking her to hold him.

If it were any other time, giving him a little hug wouldn’t have been a big deal. But she was on the clock right now; how could she have the time to hold him? No matter how much she liked kids, she still couldn’t.

Luckily, it had just been a misunderstanding on her part.

The server quickly left the private room, and not long after, she came back in carrying a plate of steamed buns.

When he saw the buns, Little Reunion’s eyes lit up. He immediately reached out to grab one. Jiang Xue hurriedly pressed his hand down, took out a cup, poured some water, and washed his hands for him. Only then did she place a bun in his hands.

With buns to eat, Little Reunion finally broke into a smile, hugging it in both hands and gnawing away. After the meal, Jiang Xue and Mu Qiancheng rested for a bit, then wandered around some other places. They didn’t head home until the middle of the afternoon.

Jiang Xue was completely exhausted, so once they got back, she took a shower and went straight to bed. Mu Qiancheng stayed with Little Reunion and played with him for a while; only then did father and son go to rest.

She slept straight through until seven or eight in the evening and was woken up by hunger. When she opened her eyes, she saw that she was alone in the room; Little Reunion and Mu Qiancheng were both gone.

Jiang Xue looked out the window and saw that it was already dark outside. She immediately climbed out of bed, washed up a bit, and then left the room.

Mu Qiancheng was in the living room playing with his son. When he heard the bedroom door open, he looked up and saw Jiang Xue come out, so he said with a smile, "Xue’er, you’re hungry, right? I’ll go bring the food out."

With that, Mu Qiancheng set Little Reunion down and headed into the kitchen.
