Chapter 210: Reactions From His Parents
Chapter 210: Reactions From His Parents
Far away from Helion Bastion Twelve, in the inner territories of the Human Alliance, the Arcturus family had its own problems.
Though they cannot be considered similar to what other smaller families tend to have.
No one in the Arcturus main estate was wondering whether the family could survive the next storm, or whether one failed investment would break them.
The Arcturus name already carried weight across multiple sectors, and their fleets, shipyards, academies, and old alliances were enough to make most families careful when dealing with them.
But being strong did not mean being free of pressure.
If anything, it meant more eyes.
More politics where everyone around you is trying to take over whenever you show weakness, just because they can.
Cassian Arcturus sat in his private study, one hand resting against the side of his cup while a large strategic display hovered over the desk in front of him.
He was Aurelian’s father, who had seen so many events that even major battles against their major enemies didn’t affect him in the slightest, and he was able to adapt to anything easily.
Today, however, he received something that caused him, who prides himself on being able to handle everything, to doubt his claims.
But this change is not a negative sign exactly; it’s more about curiosity.
This is because he just received the message from Aurelian, which had arrived in several broken packets, delayed by distance and routed through routes outside the family’s usual communication network.
That alone was enough to catch his attention.
Then he read the contents.
But after reading it, he couldn’t help but read it again.
Because what was written there was something that, although they have done it, only high-level commanders are capable of doing with the help of their ship girls.
However, Aureian, who had just recently become a commander, is able to.
Have the frontier holdings secured, along with weakening the hostile regional power, and gaining control of ancient sites, and finding another type of stargate which was not part of the alliance technology.
But what surprised him the most was how his son was able to do it, and he was able to get the answers when Aurelian told him about the hidden route, but the most surprising part was that he was able to become a Tier III commander so quickly with a Tier V flagship without the family’s help.
After reading everything, Cassian leaned back in his chair.
For a long moment, he said nothing.
Across from him, Elara (Aurelian’s mother) was much more concerned about Aurelian rather than the achievement of him finding a wormhole that led to a part of the universe that is clearly far away from the border of the Alliance.
"He is much more adventurous than you were when you were his age," she said.
Cassian’s mouth moved slightly. "Sigh, that is what I am worried about."
"As this new place will most likely be the starting place where he will build his territory, but it is so far away that it seems almost illogical."
"And to top it off, he did it without even telling us."
She gave him a look.
And Cassian, who saw this clearly, knew what she wanted to say, but he didn’t say anything because he’d done something similar himself, which was how they met.
But that story doesn’t need to be remembered now.
As for why they weren’t worried before, they were, but this is how their civilization is.
As young commanders pushing out into the frontier, especially one from a family like theirs, where children were expected to prove their ability rather than sit safely under protection forever.
But this was different.
As he was able to do something even a veteran commander spent years searching for, he was able to fight for in just a few months.
However, this was still not something that the Arcturus family needed to panic over.
But they still needed to move carefully.
Elara went over the messages again, her expression softening only when she reached the private lines Aurelian had included for them.
He had not written much.
He never did.
But what he wrote mattered.
He was alive.
He was uninjured.
His fleet was growing.
He had not overextended to the point of collapse.
And despite the cold tone of the main report, he did not forget to add about his daily life, which he spent away from his family.
AS she was reading this, Cassian was thinking about how to support him.
After a moment, he tapped the desk and brought up another channel.
"Is Lucian available?"
The household AI responded at once. "Cadet Lucian Arcturus is available."
"Connect him."
The connection opened a few seconds later.
Lucian appeared in an academy uniform, standing straight.
"Uncle," Lucian said, lowering his head respectfully. "Aunt."
Elara smiled faintly. "Relax, Lucian. You are not being punished."
Lucian relaxed by perhaps two percent.
Cassian did not bother hiding his amusement. "Have you heard from Yelena recently?"
"Yes," Lucian said. "She confirmed that Aurelian’s side received some of the materials routed through the archive channels. She also said he has been busy and difficult to contact directly."
"That sounds like him," Elara said.
Lucian hesitated slightly.
Cassian noticed. "Say it."
"There was also the matter of Yelena coming by," Lucian said. "She came to retrieve some of the Tier I to Tier V blueprints, which seem to be related to territory building, but as they were not high-level ones, they were reported in through the normal channels."
Cassian’s eyes narrowed slightly, as this proved his guess was right. "It seems that our guess was right."
"That is very Aurelian," Elara said.
Lucian looked as if he wanted to agree but was not sure if he was allowed to.
Cassian waved a hand. "You may say it."
"Yes," Lucian said, with the smallest hint of relief. "That is very Aurelian."
Elara smiled more clearly this time.
Cassian brought the discussion back to the matter at hand. "You and Yelena will continue supporting his channels, but do not spread the details of this report. For now, the number of people who know about his pans and the Tier V refit stays small."
Lucian straightened again. "Understood."
"If he sends technical requests, they are to be flagged high priority, but quietly. Nothing that draws family rivals or Alliance observers toward his exact location."
"Yes."
"And Lucian," Elara added, her tone gentler now, "if you speak with him before we do, tell him his mother expects at least one proper personal message, not a military inventory with two warm sentences hidden at the bottom."
Lucian’s mouth twitched.
"I will tell him."
"Do it carefully," Cassian said. "He may respond with a spreadsheet."
This time, Lucian actually smiled.
"I’ll prepare myself."
