Chapter 301: Impending Danger
Chapter 301: Impending Danger
The tension in the camp had settled and there was less reason for them to be agitated which was a good thing but Glenn knew that Corey still planned to kill them.
There was no way he had a change of heart because he liked chaos, Rachel took it upon herself to avoid him at all costs as he has proven to be a degenerate.
Corey assured Glenn that they had changed their mind due to Brayden showing them that he wasn’t a threat but Glenn knew that there was a high chance this was a lie and he wasn’t about to risk it. However, it would be a lot more difficult because Corey would assign people to watch them.
He had to find a way to tell Brayden because things weren’t as they seemed but he also knew that Dimitris was taking a long time to get here.
It had been more than an hour since they arrived here and he was nowhere to be found.
The men keeping watch didn’t have the skills to take him out either so there was no way that Dimitris was dead so what was going on?
-
Dimitris heard both gunshots but he couldn’t move because this only made the men here alert, they became on guard and watched every inch of their environment but they were right too.
Dimitris was breathing heavily, the look in his eyes was that of pure fear because an hour after that, the bodies of the men were ripped to shreds with a chunk of their brains missing.
Dimitris didn’t know what happened but he couldn’t even call that thing a zombie because that thing moved unlike anything he had seen before.
But for a moment, he thought that it had perceived him only for Dimitris to realize that it had no eyes to see but there was no doubt that this was an evolved zombie.
One would think that it couldn’t get any worse but zombies kept pouring in, they all felt different, it wasn’t the conventional walkers.
"What are these things?" Dimitris thought to himself, he managed to look beyond the car and what caught his attention were four zombies that seemed to walk like people but he could tell that they were corpses due to their rotten flesh but they had individuality.
It was just like that day but these had their complete brains intact and Dimitris quickly but quietly readjust beneath the car because he knew that if he came out, he would be dead.
These undead things were on horses, at least the four zombies that were different from the rest with spears in their hands.
"What the actual fuck?" Dimitris thought to himself upon noticing this because this felt unreal.
The zombies they encountered a year back didn’t wield weapons but this only showed how close they were to humans but he realized where they were headed.
"The camp!"

Clementine’s eyes opened, she was bound but she found herself in an unfamiliar place, she tried to tilt her head but it was held in place by a head restraint, her hands and feet were bound as well so she couldn’t get out of her constraints.
She didn’t feel any pain which was strange considering that she nearly bled out but instead, she felt a sensation unlike anything she had ever felt from those very wounds.
Clementine loved the feeling, it felt almost intoxicating and she wondered if she was given some kind of drugs.
This person was a doctor so that was a possibility but there was something off, the place was dark but something was glowing around her.
Clementine realized that the fragments had been placed in her wounds, which would explain why she was feeling any pain.
Schneider already confirmed she was compatible with the fragment after she came into contact with the pseudo and showed no side effects.
Clementine struggled and struggled but it was in vain, there was no way she was breaking free and footsteps were soon heard.
"I see, you’re awake. I hoped you would stay asleep until the process is completed," Schneider said but Clementine wasn’t having any of it.
"You bastard! Let me go!" Clementine barked but there was no way that this was going to happen.
"... Not yet," Schneider said but this suggested that he had plans to do so; however what was he doing with Clementine?
Purple vines became visible beneath her veins as it was merging with her nerves and every body.
The pain that followed was overwhelming, almost forcing her body into shock but this was what being compatible meant.
"I am amazed, you’re the first that has shown signs of having a pseudo fragment without any effects... You’re perfect for her..." Schneider said but Clementine wasn’t following.
The purple glow beneath her skin suddenly turned pink, this had never happened before as it showed that it wasn’t an extension of Chronos but something else.
Clementine thrashed for a full minute before her body became motionless, she couldn’t move an inch as the light in her eyes slowly faded, taking the colour of pink.
"Just like time, you were once lost but I have found you a host..." Schneider said with a satisfied smile but suddenly, Clementine’s body began to convulse aggressively.
"W-What is happening?" Schneider questioned, trying his best to steady her pulse as it was not only slowing but her heart was slowly coming to a halt.
Chronos took over Doctor Schneider but the Doctor never officially died, he just lost his consciousness, this was how he was able to assimilate his knowledge and everything that came with being human.
If Clementine died, then there was no way for this new variant to be reborn in its perfect form.
Chronos had waited too long for this to happen and it immediately moved to save Clementine not for her sake but for its own.
Clementine was fighting back against the parasite in her body and this was what forced her body to enter into shock.
