Chapter 306: The Specters...
Chapter 306: The Specters...
Clementine was trapped in an endless void but this wasn’t the only thing, the things she clung to for hope would be taken away from her.
"Sam... Please save me!" She tried to call out but there was nothing that came out of her mouth as she had forgotten her childhood, she was slowly losing her identity at an extraordinary pace.
"Jason...?" Clementine questioned like this was the first time she had heard the name but she had forgotten who had that name.
The more she forgot, the less she resisted because there was nothing to fight for but she held onto Sam as long as possible.
She fought with every fibre in her being to keep him alive but she couldn’t win this battle.
The last memory she held sacred was taken away from her and every resistance in her was gone as she plunged to the bottom of her subconscious.
But she heard a voice that she no longer recognized echo softly.
"Fight..." This was all it said and Clementine couldn’t explain it but in a single moment, she forced herself to the surface of her subconscious and her eyes shot open.
Chronos thought it was the parasite he had placed inside her but it wasn’t, it was Clementine.
She broke through the binds with the powers given to her by this parasite before punching Chronos right in the face, sending him flying.
She clutched her head in pain, it was like something was violently rioting in her head but it was a miracle that she could fight back.
"You... How did you overcome it?" Chronos questioned, he sounded indifferent about being hit by Clementine, he didn’t hold it against her even though the punch had dislocated his jaw; he simply snapped back in place.
"Who are you?" Clementine questioned before looking around the room in pure terror.
"Where am I!?" Clementine was scared and this was strange considering she knew of her circumstances.
"I see... The transition wasn’t complete but you already lost what made you, you before you could resist..." Chronos pointed out even more impressed that she was able to wake up.
"It must be him..." Chronos said, clearly referring to Jason but this confirmed the long-awaited fate of the red-eyed man.
"... But I am afraid it is too late," Chronos said as Clementine dropped to her knees with her head in hand.
"You have lost yourself so there is no way for you to resist the control of that which I have placed in you," Chronos said and he was right, Clementine lost who she was and that was it.
This was what one would call a last fight but she was no longer who she was; however, this was in the literal sense as her eyes shone pink.

Bella had managed to return to camp after a rather hard day. It was a miracle that she made it this far but something told her that this was just the beginning.
The things she had seen so far would make anyone lose hope but she was glad that she didn’t touch whatever that was, it had to be bad news.
Bella was attended to by everyone, she made this place her home but that was only because the other Specters were absent.
There was no telling what would happen if they were aware of what was going on but something told her they did.
And the possibility that they encountered something a lot worse was looking more probable
What if they had all been killed already, this was a thought that hadn’t crossed her mind before but she entertained it now.
She had to fortify this place and make it even stronger, the only way to do that was to get more people under her hence a mass recruitment as she didn’t just want this place to be a den for criminals otherwise it would set in motion a thought that they aren’t worthy to be around other people.
This might seem insignificant but it would help shape the way they thought, Bella knew she had to do everything in her power to make sure this place stood.
However, she was informed of something that caught her off guard and that was the Specters had sent a letter just for her.
This was a surprise considering that the Specters had been away for quite some time so this must be something urgent.
And the thing about this was, if she received a letter, it meant that all others received it as well even though the content of the letter was unknown.
Bella collected it and noticed that it hadn’t even been opened, this was the respect she commanded and retreated into her private quarters.
She opened the letter and was surprised to see their leader reporting about what he had discovered.
But that wasn’t all, he reported that their numbers had been cut down by four, four Specters had lost their lives and this further showed that the zombies were strong enough to kill a Specter by luring them into traps and simply overwhelming them with numbers.
They were humans, they weren’t gods even with their skills but Bella was scared.
The people that had died weren’t stated but a location was given for all of them to gather.
This was the first time that Bella was going to be an active participant but she knew that she couldn’t miss this.
She was one of the weakest Specters but she knew that Allison had died or she would have returned.
But Bella wasn’t going to go alone, she was going to assemble a team to escort her there as this was going to be a journey that could last days.
However, she couldn’t leave the community defenceless because, without her, there was a huge chance that these people would lose the discipline she had instilled in them.
This was the time to trust them like they had trusted her, she had to place her entire faith in them.
