Chapter 333: ~END~
Chapter 333: ~END~
Thus, the fighting ended and the world was given a second chance to correct its mistake.
There was no telling what fate had in store but who the hell cared?
A week had passed since that unfortunate event and life was returning to normal but this wasn’t the only good news, Carl had managed to survive his predicament as he managed to pull through.
They returned to the community because for some reason, zombies were no longer interested in them.
It was a lot different from them staying away and this allowed them to clean up the community with Brayden and his men aiding in this task.
But the news about Glenn’s death wrecked everyone because he was one of the few people that everyone liked but this was how cruel the world was.
Mariam heard of this news and felt remorseful, none of this would have happened if she listened to Dimitris.
She realised that in her attempt to make the community a fortress, she lost the one thing that made the community worth anything in the first place.
A haven to remind the living that life was still possible even in this cursed world and she made amends by letting everyone Dimitris had brought back within the walls.
The walls were now open to everyone even though the screening process would still be a thing.
Mariam stepped down as the head, almost losing Carl put things into perspective.
She needed to be his mother more than she needed to be a ruler, this left a vacuum and democracy was returned within the walls.
They elected a council that consisted of Dimitris, Rachel, Carl, and Brayden.
Bella returned to the community after the Specters were disbanded, the Specter that was corrupted regained his senses the moment Chronos was defeated by Jason but the whereabouts of their leader were never found.
Mathias’s illness became worse but Jason granted Rachel something that she sought the most and that was the ability to save lives.
Rachel couldn’t heal him but with the aid of the fragment in her, she was able to halt the growth of the tumor growth and with herbal treatment, able to curb the effects prolonging Matthias’ life.
However, Sam and Clementine returned to the military base as Sam knew he had to atone for all the pain he had caused. He knew that this base would be the best place to do so not to mention the protection it offered.
The man who played God was immediately tried and exiled into the world with nothing on his person but a knife as even he knew not to test Sam.
It was exile or death and with the zombies no longer interested in the living, that simply meant that the only people they had to worry about were the living as they were a bigger threat than the dead ever would be as they no longer had a common enemy.
The military base was reformed and the people being held were given a lot more freedom Sanders was surprised that Sam cared about anyone but himself however he knew the cost of that.
The message he gave the last was interpreted correctly by Sanders, Sam never asked for backup but rather, that was his way of indirectly telling Sanders to look after the girl as he knew she could prove useful to humanity’s fight against the dead.
Clementine was shocked by the changes she saw in him but it was clear that Sam had become a different person entirely however Sam never told her that she was pregnant, Clementine was oblivious to this fact.
Sam didn’t allow her to stress herself and became even more overprotective as Sanders slowly incorporated him into his ranks. it was no easy task for him to earn their trust but he did so in the coming weeks.
Clementine couldn’t explain but she knew that Jason was the one responsible for this.
This wasn’t just a thought or a hunch, she knew it deep within her bone but she wasn’t the only one.
"It was Jason. He did all of this," Sam muttered to himself when he was alone.
"You goddamn show off! You just had to have the last life," Sam said with a defeated chuckle.
"Thank you old friend..." Sam showed his gratitude for the first time.

Rachel couldn’t push what happened that day but for some reason, she never felt lonely.
It was like Jason was with her, she could feel him in her heart and he would sometimes manifest in her lucid dreams that felt so real.
"Are you alright?" Lillian asked her older sister who was smiling to herself like she had made a discovery.
"You have been acting weird ever since you returned..." Lillian continued as she sat beside her older sister.
The moonlight made its way through the opened curtains as the lights had been turned off to conserve energy.
"I’m great... That reminds me..." Rachel said, grabbing the crumpled piece of paper that Jason had given her
"What’s this?" Lillian questioned but Rachel kept quiet.
She noticed her sister became a lot more lively recently, almost like she was trying to compensate for something. Rachel stood up and left her alone with the note.
Lillian didn’t know what this was and opened up the note only to recognize the handwriting.
[Hey dipshit, it is me. I don’t know how to express how sorry I am; I will never regret saving you even if it means you hate me. I can’t believe the day would come when I would be afraid to face it but here it is. I want you to know, you’re stronger than you look. You’re an amazing kid who went through things no one should have but you no longer need to hide your scars. This world tried its best to make you a victim and I think it is about time to flip it off! I haven’t gone a day without thinking about you and your sister but you will have to take my place and protect her.
That is what I would like to say but your scrawny ass can’t even protect yourself. I know you don’t hate me, you never did and even if you couldn’t say those words, I will say them for you.
I love you Lillian, you’re the best little sister I could ask for. Thank you for being my favorite piece of shit.
PS: RACHEL DOES NOT HAVE MY PERMISSION TO MOVE ON!!!]
The note concluded and Lillian didn’t know how much she needed to hear this but tears began to drip from her eyes and that soon escalated into sobbing.
Rachel listened to her sister cry and simply smiled to herself with a fit of laughter mixed between.
"I l-love you too! Dipshit!" Lillian cried amid tears
