Chapter 91: Bella’s Decision?

Chapter 91: Bella’s Decision?

Ren and Allison were still searching for Lorenzo, they looked everywhere but he had seemingly vanished, this was a strange occurrence considering he was hunting down Specters just the night before.

Allison was next in line and there was no way that Lorenzo would back down just because she was with Ren.

If anything, Ren knew he would relish the idea of a fight with him so if he hadn’t come for her then that meant that something must have happened to him.

They had somehow managed to pick off the zombies, the zombies were killed one at a time and their numbers dwindled rapidly as they couldn’t withstand the superior firepower.

Rachel was out of sight but she remained close to the car she had seen the night before.

Rachel understood that she couldn’t allow Bella to run away with the car or they would be doomed but if the car was still here, that could only mean that Bella wasn’t able to get away from the zombies.

Rachel could assume she was either dead or in hiding but this was her chance to get the car before Bella could.

Rachel couldn’t make her move because the longer she waited, the more crowded the place became but Rachel knew she would find her opportunity.

Rachel saw Ren and Allison from a distance but she had no idea who they were; however, she understood that they held some sort of rank amongst the others.

This was obvious by how they were perceived but they were rounding up with the last bunch of zombies but something happened.

The zombies that could shoot out liquids from its mouth had assembled but they were shooting it sporadically and it didn’t seem to be directed at anyone in particular.

This made it even more effective as it covered so much more ground and the substance clung to the bare flesh of the people around her.

"That’s it?" One of the men exclaimed because nothing seemed to be happening to their bodies.

And the others began laughing because one would think that this was some sort of trump card.

If this was all that was done then there was nothing to worry about but this was where they were wrong.

The substance slowly seeped into their skin and before they knew it, a part of their body immediately became bloated, the pain that ran through their body was unmatched.

It was unlike anything they had ever felt and it took everything in them to even muster a scream.

Then the rest of their bodies gave way and everyone watched in horror as they became so grotesque that they looked like a zombie right out of a horror show.

"Fall back!" A man commanded, forcing everyone to retreat because this wasn’t something that was expected, even those that it just grazed suffered the same fate.

That means as long as it touches you, you’re doomed.

Clementine knew they had to wait out the storm or they risked getting consumed by this.

She wasn’t nearly as strong as Sam and lacked the necessary firepower to even pose a threat to these enemies.

She knew she could attempt negotiating but she wasn’t sure if these people would even listen to them, her train of thought was cut short by Jason.

"The enemy of my enemy is my friend..." Jason muttered out, repeating what Chronos had said to him.

"Huh?" Clementine blurted out but before the conversation could go further, a man walked in.

He was everything that one would expect a man of his stature to be.

His steps felt godlike, it was almost like he was gliding on air.

He had everyone’s attention in the room but the moment he saw that Lorenzo had been killed.

His lips parted in partial surprise, he couldn’t believe that Lorenzo had fallen even though it wasn’t without consequence, he noticed that two men were injured and a very helpless lady was tasked with protecting them.

"Who are you?" Clementine asked, she pointed her gun at him even though something told her that this man wasn’t a threat.

"I got your friend, Bella," The man said and his features finally came into full view.

He was a man in his early thirties, he had deep orange eyes despite his complexion being dark-skinned, he had a necklace the shape of a cross dangling from his neck and a longer pendant on that same neck.

He had on a hoodie that did well to conceal his features but not when he was indoors and the numerical value that Jason and Sam had grown to understand was a measure of that strength that showed that this was the strongest man here.

"B-Bella? That bitch isn’t with us..." Sam muttered, he was still conscious which was a miracle.

"She isn’t?" The man asked as he sat on the decapitated corpse of Lorenzo.

"That is strange..." The man continued.

"Why is that strange?" Jason asked, taking over the conversation.

"How did you find us?" Clementine asked the important question.

"I think you know the answer to this question, don’t you?" The man asked but this was rhetorical of course.

"Bella..." Clementine muttered.

Jason wanted to know why he said it was strange, if this was the man he thought it was then it wouldn’t be difficult for him to assemble men to storm this place yet he came alone.

That seemed like an unnecessary risk but Jason could also tell he was curious how Lorenzo ended, this included the hint that Chronos had given him.

"I killed him," Jason said randomly and Clementine couldn’t believe he would say something so out of place right now.

The man chuckled upon hearing this response, he knew that Lorenzo was a menace but he couldn’t kill him for political reasons however, there would be no problems if an outsider did it.

"I was getting there but it looks like you caught on," The man praised Jason but his voice carried no rage. It was deep and soothing, it made Jason question what he wanted in the first place.

"What did you mean when you said it was strange that we don’t consider Bella a friend?" Jason asked, Clementine raised a brow because this was irrelevant but Jason thought something else.

"It is because of Bella that you’re still alive..." The man said and Jason was confused, it felt like the man was speaking in parables.

"Huh?" Clementine blurted out, she was invested in this conversation now.

"Bella is torturing herself with her own hands she ripped out her nails and mutilated her body so I will spare you all. She showed me how much she wanted it using her own body. But I want to know what kind of people would make Bella do something so extreme," The man said and Jason was shocked.

Clementine’s jaw dropped because it was a different kind of torture being forced to do it yourself.

"I want to tell you that the fate that awaits Bella would make her wish she was dead. She has betrayed us and in turn, we will have to make a very strong example out of her... She would be violated, both mind and body, she will be kept alive to be humiliated until her body decides it can’t take anymore then we will use her as a walker at the fence," The man said with a blood-curdling tone.

"That’s what I wish to let you know but I think that I didn’t need to worry. It looks like Bella is the only one who holds this twisted value of friendship. Take your friends and leave," The man said and Jason was speechless.

He didn’t know that Bella would go so far, he had condemned her as someone that couldn’t be saved but she was proving to him that this wasn’t the case.

Jason lost hope in humanity but this news brought him back to the beliefs that he was about to abandon.

"Fuck that bitch," Sam said.

Sam was a simple man, once someone betrayed him, that was it.

He didn’t believe in second chances, the moment someone showed him their true colour.

If forgiven, they simply learn to camouflage it, they don’t change.

Sam had one thing on his mind and that was getting rid of Bella by any means necessary and something told Sam that he couldn’t beat this man even if he wasn’t injured.

The man was done here and began to walk away but he was interrupted by Jason.

"I can’t let you do that...’ Jason blurted out and the look on Clementine’s face told Jason exactly what she thought about this.

"And what do you plan to do?" The man asked without turning back, he knew that Jason had raised a gun yet he was composed.

"I will kill you," Jason responded but the man had considered this, he knew that there was a possibility that these people might put up resistance but they soon had worse things to worry about as he wasn’t the only thing they should fear.

The zombies, or rather, a type of zombie were rapidly multiplying just outside these walls.
