Chapter 173: The calamity 5
Chapter 173: The calamity 5
Rose ducked under a blue arc, flickered forward, and pierced her flaming sword right through a heretic’s heart, incinerating him from within. Another lunged at her, sending a wave of flames at her.
At this point even Rose had a comical expression on her face, one that seemed to say; "Really?" Till date, Rose hadn’t come in contact with flames hotter or more immolating than hers.
The flames as expected, washed over Rose without leaving any damage whatsoever. Even her dress, only had black marks on it.
Though Rose wasn’t immune, Rose was highly resistant to her own flames which were order of degrees searing than whatever this heretic could produce.
As for her dress, it was made from an from the hide of an ice type beast after all. And all of Rose’s clothes were made to be resistant to heat. In short, all of her clothes were pseudo artifacts.
The heretic stood in shock seeing Rose shrugg off the flames, but he soon regained his composure and launched an even greater wave.
Rose allowed herself a little smirk as she blasted a wave of flames that consumed the heretic’s flames and the heretic alike.
However in that same instant, Rose sensed another figure coming at her from behind.
Rose instantly spun, directing a concentrated blast of flames at the supposed heretic. However, the supposed heretic suddenly blurred before the explosion could leave Rose’s hand.
They caught Rose’s wrist, and redirected the explosion into the air in one seamless movement.
"Calm down, will you?" Damon wiped a phantom bead of sweat off his forehead. "I need your help with something." He said, before suddenly spinning on his heel along with Rose as a scyth passed through the space they had been standing before.
Dropping her sword to the floor, Rose used her now free hand to immolate the heretic to ashes.
After which she wrung her hand fre from his. "You shouldn’t have sneaked up on me." Ever since their battle during the midterms, this was the first time they were addressing each other.
"What do you need help with?" Rose asked, picking up her sword.
"Come with me!" He said and both of their figures darted away.
They maneuvered through many fights happening on the first floor before they finally reached where Damon and Anastasia were fighting the Elven heretic with the metal manipulation.
"There, we’re going to need your help with her." Damon gestured at the heretic who was still storming Anastasia and a few other Damons with metals. If not for Anastasia’s ability, Damon was sure that most of his reflections would have already been dispelled.
"We’ll create a an opening for you, just enough so you can flashfire with a concentrated blast. Can you do it?" he asked.
Rose didn’t answer immediately. Instead, the air around them began growing unbearably hot, to the point that the air itself was sizzling, before gold flames burst out from her body, forcing Damon to dart to the side.
The golden flames then proceeded to converge on her body, illuminating her in their immolating light.

With Alistair meanwhile.
The demon held his neck in his unyielding grip. "Is this all the Omega ranked prodigy amounts to? How pathetic." The demon cackled as Alistair continued to struggle for dear life.
"Goodbye." The demon said and Alistair’s eyes widened as he felt the demon’s hand tightening even further around his neck.
He couldn’t do anything. Currently he was like a rabbit before lion. Utterly helpless, and only at the mercy of the lion. Was what the demon said true? Was this all he amounted to? Pure despair manifested in Alistair’s eyes.
However, before the despair could truly take root, a whistling arrow shot towards the heretic. Without even turning, the heretic raised his hand and made a grabbing motion, grabbing the arrow just before it struck his neck.
The heretic grinned. However, at that certain time, the arrow suddenly exploded right next to his head. That caught the heretic off guard, blasting his head to the side, giving more than enough time for a figure shrouded in crackling purple lightning to swoop in and rescue Alistair from his grasp.
Cough!! Cough!!
Alistair staggered and coughed his lungs out. "Are you okay?" Levi asked, his eyes still trailed on the heretic whose upper torso was covered in black smoke.
"I...I’m fine." Alistair forced out. At that moment, Delilah also arrived next to them, and so did Aric, and Amyra.
"How about Fabian?" Alistair asked.
"He’s recovering, I fed him a potent healing potion. He’ll be fine." Delilah replied.
"Hahahahahaha!!!!" At that moment, a dark cackle echoed from the smoke, sending uneasy chills through the youths.
"New players huh? How interesting." He said stepping out of the smoke, a wide maniac grin splitting his face.
Alistair shoved a way his uneasiness and stood before the group. "Amyra and I are the strongest. We’ll fight him, the rest of you support us." He said.
The rest didn’t argue, they knew their limits and knew that in no way would they survive a head on confrontation with the demon in front of them.
Levi brought out a seemingly simple necklace and extended it to Alistair.
"What is that?" Alistair asked.
"It’s a protective charm against mind attacks" Levi replied. "I’m willing to borrow it to you after a lot of careful deliberation..." he paused. "Donr make me regret it." he added.
"You won’t." Alistair accepted the necklace and hung it around his neck. Amoat immediately, a cool sensation spread in his mind, dulling the headaches he has been ensuring from the previous mind hexes.
"I’ll support from behind." Delilah said, effortlessly flipping backwards. The rest also took their positions with Levi and Aric flanking both Alistair and Amyra simultaneously.
Sewing that, the heretic sighed. "It seems I am being underestimated a little. Maybe it’s time I show you all the true difference between you and I."
BOOOM!
A terrifying dark aura burst out from his body. "Now this is what am talking about!!" The heretic cackled.
"Be careful guys, even though he isn’t physically endowed, he is still a Zeta ranked heretic, which means his physical stats eclipses ours." Alistair said grimly. "It’s not an understatement to say that if a single attack from him connect well, we’d be done for."
"That’s a lie." The demon grinned.
"You’re already done for." He whispered in Alistair’s ears this time. He was already in front of Alistair before the air could even announce his movements.
This time though, many weapons were already aiming for him, be it Alistair’s spear that was making its way to his chest, or Amyra’s sword which was just a fraction of a speed slower than Alistair’, and Levi, whose speed almost rivalled Alistair’s thanks to the lightning coating both his sword and his body, and finally Aric, whose shadow tendrils were curbing across the heretic’s body.
The demon bent his knees, effortlessly leaping upwards, causing all their attacks to miss, before he curled his fist and kicked at the air pushing himself downwards with even greater speed.
Bang!
The heretic’s fist impacted the flat side of Amyra’s sword. The sword bent inwards as if it were rubber, rather than reinforced metal. The adulting force from the attack would have sent her flying if not for the fact that she caught on to the demon’s wrist, successfully stopping herself from flying back.
At that same time, Alistair’s spear thrusted towards the heretic’s side.
"Upthrust!"
The air folded in on itself as the demon swerved his torso to the side, making the spear completely miss him.
BOOOM!
The shockwave generated from that missed attack scattered them like leaves in a hurricane. Except it blew the demon right into Levi’s sword.
Everyone froze if only for a moment. This was the first time they had actually done something to him. Even the demon himself froze. This little ants actually managed to hurt him, insignificant as such an injury might have been to a heretic like him.
Bzzzzz!
Lightning ran along the sword, from Levi’s hand and into the heretic.
"Argh! You insolent brat!" The heretic dough through the pain of having his insides being fried. In one simple motion, he raised a leg and kicked behind him, hitting Levi right in the guts.
The boy folded in half, blood and spittle coughing up his mouth, before he launched backwards leaving the sword still embedded in the heretic’s body.
Under the increasingly unsettling gaze of the youths, the demon put his hand behind him and caught the hilt of the sword, before yanking it straight out of him.
The flesh around the hole the sword has come out from wiggled and squirmed like worms, before the hole sealed itself shut in seconds.
"Ready for a round two?" the demon grinned as the sword clattered on the ground.
