Chapter 208: Garrinch
Chapter 208: Garrinch
It was a semi-humanoid creature, resembling a feline in terms of body shape, but sporting forelimbs that were thrice the thickness of the rear limbs, and were also half a size longer.
Its upper body was half a girth thicker than the lower body, as if rolled over with multiple layers of bark like on a tree. The head, almost oval in shake, had four jaws in total, capable of splitting open like a flower.
The brain was located right below the jaw, protected by a thick layer of bone. The brain was still vulnerable, as it was at risk whenever the creature consumed a prey. Thankfully, it had a protective means, which it always employed.
That was the tail, with its tip shaped like a saucer, perfectly capable of encasing the head within. Moreover, an extra pair of sensory organs were attached to this, allowing the creature to still perceive its surroundings while protecting its weak head.
Expert Gold Grade Pranic Beast–Garrinch!
With a Prana capacity of 7391 and a lifespan of 1420 years, the Garrinch was one of the four Pranic Beast races native to the underground biomes located in Citrakah Enclave. From head to toe, it reached a maximum length of 18 metres, considered as one of the larger Gold Grade Pranic Beasts of Nusantara Continent.
Thump! Thump!
With extremely sharp claws capable of digging into surfaces, the Garrinch perched upon the pillars of rock descending down from the ceiling like stalactites. Their eyes glinted a reddish hue, allowing them to perceive through the darkness of the biome.
And as their eyes picked up the arrival of the Wean Clansmen, their bodies tensed up. Immediately in response, a rhythmic thumping sound rang in a chorus.
Primary Nature–Cardiac Admission!
It allowed a Garrinch to treat itself as part of a collective. Unlike on Sumatra Continent, where every Nature could be controlled willingly by the cultivator, things on Nusantara weren’t as flexible.
The energies of the Body, Mind, and Soul when fused produces Prana. The reason every living being had three Nature slots is to cater to this design. There was one Nature meant to be for each of the three aspects that are part of Prana.
Generally, the Nature present on birth, exhibiting the strongest physical characteristic of the Pranic Beast using Prana, is the Primary Nature.
The Primary Nature manifests itself as part of the body, unable to be controlled by the cultivator, similar to how they cannot control the actions of involuntary muscles.
As long as there is Prana circulating through the body’s bloodstream, the Primary Nature remains active.
The original cultivation progression of all Continents is to be born with a Primary Nature, which exhibits the body aspect of Prana. Then, as the Pranic Beast reaches maturity, those part of the races with a solid path will obtain a Secondary Nature at this point.
This Secondary Nature exhibits the Mental Aspect of Prana. And finally, extremely few geniuses need to obtain an enlightenment of sorts before they gain a Tertiary Nature, which is of the Soul Aspect.
This rule holds true for all Continents, for it relies on the foundation created by their energy of usage, Prana. And as according to this foundation, the natives of these Continents are born with a Body Aspect Primary Nature, they are referred to as Body Path Continents.
Sumatra Continent, however, is the only exception, as it exclusively follows the Mind Path. Every single Nature that a Pranic Beast or human obtains on Sumatra is of the Mental Aspect, making it the sole Mind Path Continent.
The Garrinch’s Primary Nature of Cardiac Admission creates four streams of Prana in total, serving as arteries and veins respectively, connected directly to the heart.
The two Arteries pump Prana out of the heart. The two veins take in Prana and pour it into the heart, which is quickly processed by the Spirit Container in the heart and turned into the respective Pranic Beast’s own Prana.
Each artery and vein is as thick as a human hair, creating a compressed flow of Prana within. It has a sort of affinity to the rest of its kind.
An artery will naturally attract and make a connection with a vein of another Garrinch. In this manner, as a horde of Garrinch live in a region, their Prana reserves all remain in connection with each other.
Hence, they could fight recklessly, as the rapid, almost bottomless influx of Prana allows them to recover from even crippling injuries. This recovery rate prevents death among the Garrinch Race and makes them one of the most dangerous to fight against.
Of course, as Gold Grade Pranic Beast, their capabilities are already one of the highest. The two veins and two arteries, alongside the heart they are connected to, form the product of their Primary Nature–Cardiac Admission.
These arteries and veins could stretch to the limit of their tensile strength. If a Garrinch isn’t moving around and remains still, there is no strain delivered to the arteries and veins connected to it.
Hence, they won’t snap and could be extended for kilometres.
Conversely, if their movements grow too intense, the length has to be confined to around a hundred metres or so. The connection also gets severed when these arteries and veins are cut off.
However, just like every part of the body, their Prana will heal through the damage. And these arteries and veins, driven by their affinity, would naturally seek to make a connection with the rest of their kind.
Boom!
Thirty Garrinchs slammed into the Wean Clansmen, using their shielded faces to tank against a series of Wind Blades as the Wean Clansmen leapt away using Shredded Lunge.
As the wind blades, stacked like a train to constantly grate into the flesh, ended up tearing apart large gashes on the Garrinch body. However, even as the wind blades were sawing forth, the flesh behind them was already putting itself back together.
’This...regeneration speed...!’ One of the observant Wean Clansmen part of the Spear Squad gasped, ’It has already eclipsed our Gold Grade cultivators.’
"Take aim!" He roared as his eyes widened subtly upon focusing on the hair-like strings extending out of the Garrinch bodies. Without hesitation, he aimed a wind blade at the string and watched it dissipate upon impact, ’It’s tough!’
"Hit the strings!" The Wean Clansmen promptly transformed into Empyrean Boars to tank against the Garrinch attacks better and specifically targeted the strings to cut off the enemy’s endless Prana supply.
The battle continued for a mere few minutes, upon which the Wean Clansmen figured out the fighting mechanics of the other party. And using a few seconds of safety bought using some defensive means, they absorbed a new batch of Natures from their Vara Lanterns.
And then, they slaughtered through the enemies.
